TBA: Training Better Artists, Toward a Better Alaska!
3 Barons Renaissance Fair (1,525)
The Three Barons Renaissance Fair, Inc. is a nonprofit corporation founded to promote the arts in a unique environment in the Anchorage, Alaska area. We are a community based organization whose goal is to provide a place for artists and craftspeople of all sorts to show their skills, talents, and products to the populace at large. Our mission is to continue to provide this venue and to expand it wherever possible. We are an inclusive organization and encourage community attendance and participation.
Anchorage Opera (729)
Incorporated in 1962, Anchorage Opera has evolved from an all-volunteer community organization to its present status as Alaska's only professional opera company.
Anchorage Opera produces three operas each year in the Discovery Theatre of the Alaska Center for the Performing Arts. Here, an audience of 10,000 has the opportunity to hear the world's greatest operas, performed by world-class guest singers in collaboration with Alaska's talented performers, orchestra, designers, and craftspeople. The company also produces the “Dark Night Recital Series”, designed to showcase the talents of local musician artists.
Cyrano's Theatre Company (1,308)
Eccentric Theatre Company (ETC) is the resident company at Cyrano's Off Center Playhouse in Anchorage, Alaska. It was formed in 1995 by a loose-knit group of volunteers committed to producing professional quality dramatic works utilizing Alaskan talent.
This nurturing of regional talent is one of our most important goals. We've employed actors and technicians from Juneau to Fairbanks, and have made extensive use of UAA Theatre Department graduates. In this respect, we have been a bridge or transition point from academic theatre to professional careers.
Out North Theatre (867)
Out North exists to develop and present bold new work that challenges and changes the art, the artist, and the audience. We encourage artistic risk-taking and collaboration, examining today's world through diverse cultural perspectives, and creating community through the arts.
Three Wise Monkeys (1,099)
Three Wise Monkeys Theatre Company, started in 2001 by Dawson Moore, Richard Bernier and Aoise Stratford, is a not for profit company dedicated to supporting, promoting and producing the best work by upcoming and local writers of all demographics, with an emphasis on youth, language, and theatricality.
Three Wise Monkeys currently has two annual festivals slated: BOA (Bay One-acts) and the Short Leaps Ten Minute Play Marathon. In addition, Three Wise Monkeys is set to produce a small number of full-length plays each year, mostly by local Bay-area writers. We are also introducing a new short plays program called Overnighters, which will be run both here in the Bay Area and in other states, using the resident talent pool in each place as a way of nurturing local theatre in other communities.
